Owners of the Monopoly game empire have tentatively announced plans for an AC/DC Monopoly game to be launched in August 2011. It is believed that the game will be slightly different from your traditional monopoly in that players will be able to buy and sell AC/DC albums, merchandise and other property although it will also incorporate many of the more traditional elements of the game.
The announcement of Monopoly AC/DC comes just days after Metallica Monopoly was released to the world after a number of less than subtle hints were listed on the Metallica website. There is no doubt that monopoly is one of the more popular games in the world and the amount of games now available and the different variations perfectly illustrate this fact. It will be interesting to see who is next on the Monopoly bandwagon because some less than obvious partners are certainly coming to the fore!
Monopoly is a family game which has been around for decades now but it is a game which does not seem to waver in popularity around the globe. We have seen some of the more traditional games replaced by partnerships with the likes of AC/DC and Metallica for example, partnerships which you would never even have considered in years gone by. This is a perfect illustration of the reach which the Monopoly brand has built over the years and we await the announcement of further deals and collaborations in the future.
